Product Description
Tempered glass, also called toughened glass or safety glass, is glass that has passed through a controlled heating and cooling cycle. The treatment leaves the glass far better able to cope with mechanical loads and thermal shock than ordinary annealed sheet, and if it ever breaks, it cracks into small, blunt-edged granules rather than sharp shards.
Strength is roughly five times that of normal glass: an 8mm toughened sheet will withstand a 500g steel ball dropped from 2 meters. Bending strength reaches around 120 MPa per BS EN 12150, and the glass tolerates temperature differences up to 200 degrees Celsius. Edge working, drilling, screen printing, insulating, laminating and Low-E coating can all be combined with it.
AUGTON GLASS ships tempered glass directly from the factory to buyers worldwide. As a Chinese glass manufacturer with flexible production lines, we handle custom orders of any volume, from a single bespoke panel to full project quantities.

Optical Performance Parameters
Mechanical performance: bending strength ≈ 120 MPa (BS EN 12150); impact tested per BS EN 12600; thermal shock resistance up to 200°C vs ≈30°C for annealed glass. Surface stress ≥ 90 MPa guarantees safe fragmentation pattern.
