The starting point for low iron mirror is extra-clear float glass whose iron content is strongly reduced. Ordinary green-tinted float glass, the substrate of standard mirrors, subtly darkens the reflection and adds a green cast; the low-iron substrate eliminates this tint so that the mirror shows colors exactly as they are.
