Glass staircases turn a functional element into an architectural feature: floating treads of thick laminated glass, transparent landings and slim steel or glass stringers create stairs that appear to hover in the light. Widely used in premium retail, hotels, showrooms and modern villas.

Solution Overview

Treads are built from 3-ply laminated glass — typically 10+10+10 with a slip-resistant etched or fritted walking surface — so even if one ply is damaged, the step stays rigid and safe. Each tread is CNC-cut with milled slots or drilled holes for brackets and LED edge lighting, and load-tested well beyond the 3 kN point load required by most codes.

AUGTON GLASS fabricates treads, landings, stringers and balustrade panels as one coordinated package, numbered and crated in installation order. Anti-slip surfaces, edge polishing and glass color can all be specified per project, with slip and load test reports supplied for building control.
