Controlled crystallization of glass yields glass-ceramic, a material that pairs a stone-like appearance with engineered performance. Because its thermal expansion coefficient is nearly zero, the panel passes through severe temperature changes without cracking - the reason it is the standard viewing panel for fireplaces and stoves.
Used as an architectural panel, glass-ceramic outperforms marble and granite in bending strength, abrasion resistance and stain resistance. Zero water absorption and a smooth high-gloss surface keep facades, lobby walls and countertops looking new with minimal maintenance.
